The Lakeland Terrier is a small terrier who is easily aroused by the fox in his burrow or the otter in the water. One source notes that the "Lakelands have been known to watch their prey underground for ten to twelve days without eating".

Similare appearance as the Welsh Terrier except that this breed is about an inch shorter. and his coat, which is thinner, may be black, blue, liver, black and tan, blue and tan, red, red grizzle, grizzle and tan, or wheaten, instead of only black and tan.

The height for this breed is usually between 14 and 1 5 inches and weight is usually around 17 pounds.

Aside from his aptitudes as a hunter, the Lakeland has a playful and affectionate nature and an agile and elegant gait.
